A brief description of the institution’s supportive sustainability partnership(s) with the local community:
The Director of Sustainability participates as a member of the Spokane Regional Transportation Council (SRTC) Technical Advisory Council (TAC). The TAC is responsible for advising the SRTC Board regarding plans, programs and activities to determine consistency with current policies of SRTC; making recommendations on regional transportation policies; and other activities as directed by the SRTC Board.

A brief description of the institution's collaborative sustainability partnership(s):
Gonzaga University works in collaboration with the University District, which offers opportunities to address economic development issues, smart urban growth, environmental restoration, transportation improvements and housing needs.
Connecting the core strengths of the educational institutions with regional economic drivers, the University District provides an urban laboratory for the creation of new knowledge and opportunities for community-engaged research that builds economic value and quality of life.

A brief description of the institution's transformative sustainability partnership(s) with the local community:
The Gonzaga MAPS Project (Mapping Assets and Promoting Strengths) is an ongoing effort to understand the neighborhood around us. The assessment effort sought to engage Logan (and adjacent) neighborhoods in Northeast Spokane to:
• Identify strengths to help guide collaborative projects and decision-making
• Collect and present resources, assets and attributes to assist with strategic planning and revitalization
• Capture the interests and priorities of residents, businesses and organizations that call the area ‘home’
An interactive maps of assets was generated, and continues to be updated and populated with information.
Environmental aspects of the neighborhood were considered as strengths (parks/green space, walkability, public transit, opportunities to work together on shared projects); concerns (crime prevention, clean-ups) and recommendations for collective action (provide opportunities to work together; improve neighborhood image.)
A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with distant (i.e. non-local) communities:
The Director of Sustainability is the co-chair of the Sustainability Partnership of the Northern Rockies (SPNR) and has helped form the group into a strong network of colleagues that gathers at AASHE in the fall and at a host campus sometime in the spring.
