A brief description of the institution’s indoor air quality program(s) (including information about regular auditing or monitoring, mechanisms for occupants to register complaints, and action plans):

While Gonzaga does not have any official indoor air quality (IAQ) policy or guidelines, we do utilize a reporting system for any air quality concerns. Among other means, employees are able to voice their concerns using a potential hazard notification form which is submitted to the Building Safety Representative and Environmental Health and Safety Manager. At this point, an IAQ or other health and safety investigation is opened up and any necessary corrective action is taken.

In addition, the Sustainable Purchasing and Design Policy requires that, where practicable, vacuum cleaners that meet the requirements of the Carpet and Rug Institute “Green Label” Testing Program – Vacuum Cleaner Criteria should be used by in-house staff and janitorial contractors. This includes being capable of capturing 96% of particulates 0.3 microns in size, and operating with a sound level less than 70dBA.
