A copy of the paper purchasing policy, directive or guidelines:
The paper purchasing policy, directive or guidelines:

Gonzaga University has a Purchasing Policy which includes several criteria specifically focused on paper products. This includes the requirement that 25% post-consumer waste recycled paper should be the standard for all applications where economic use of paper and quality of service is not compromised or the health and safety of employees prejudiced. Likewise, the use of multiple use (as opposed to virgin, single use) interoffice envelopes is encouraged whenever practicable. Also, all documents (by Gonzaga and Suppliers) shall be printed and copied on both sides to reduce the use and purchase of paper, whenever practical. In terms of disposal, all recyclable materials including, but not limited to paper and paper products must be recycled through the Gonzaga recycling program. Finally, paper, paper products, and construction products made from non-wood, plant based contents such as agricultural crops and residues are encouraged wherever practicable.

A brief description of steps the institution has taken to ensure that the purchasing policy, directives, or guidelines are followed :

The University Purchasing department has adopted the Gonzaga University Sustainable Purchasing and Design Policies, and we follow those policies in our daily purchasing activities. Each year, the office of sustainability issues a paper purchases report card which evaluates the amount and percent recycled paper purchased by the university. As of 2015, the college has continued to buy paper with a 30% recycled content and has reduced the overall amount used by over 16% compared to 2014.
