Has the institution developed a definition of sustainability research?:
Yes

A copy of the institution's definition of sustainability research:

Sustainability research focuses on the dynamic interactions of sustainability principles (such as social equity or environmental stewardship); addresses a sustainability challenge or complexity of interactions (such as climate change or poverty); or furthers our understanding of the interconnectedness of societal and environmental challenges. Sustainability research is problem-driven and leads toward solutions that create and apply knowledge in support of economic prosperity, social wellbeing, and ecological health.

Has the institution identified its sustainability research activities and initiatives?:
Yes

A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the inventory:

Tracking research activities among faculty is not a formalized process at Grand valley. While some research is sponsored via external grants, much of it is service learning, internal funding (from a variety of sources), or not funded at all. As such, it is difficult to track. What we have posted is our best effort to date, and is based on contact with faculty, solicitation, and departmental inquiries.

Does the institution make its sustainability research inventory publicly available online?:
Yes

The website URL where the sustainability research inventory is posted (required if claiming Part 3 of the credit):
