New Leaf focuses on empowering its members to create and implement sustainability initiatives on campus and in the Five Colleges. Group meetings focus on helping students build a foundation of knowledge about sustainable solutions, and skills to create programming to promote those solutions.
New Leaf organizes community potlucks for Hampshire & Five College students focused on sustainability issues; they collaborate with division 3 students who need student support for their sustainable projects; educate the campus community about sustainable solutions through art; work with the facilities and grounds staff to promote sustainable waste reduction projects; provide composting solutions for students, staff, and faculty.
The New Leaf student group focuses on campus initiatives to reduce the campus carbon footprint. Currently, New Leaf is leading a campaign on campus to eliminate single use plastics throughout all areas on campus. This includes partnering with a local Bag Share organization to offer handmade reusable bags on campus that are intended to be used and shared across campus. New Leaf is working closely with the student-run co-op Mixed Nuts and the Hampshire College Farm to encourage a transition to biodegradable plastics. While actively organizing to reduce single use plastics on campus, New Leaf has installed collection containers for plastic #4 bags/film/wrap in order to recycle those materials properly.

Sent to conferences through the office of Campus Leadership and Activities. Collaborate in training with environmental groups at all the Five College campuses.

New Leaf gets funding through the Student Activities fee for initiatives and programming and travel.

The Greenhouse Student Group works to upkeep two spaces around campus, the Cole Science Bioshelter, and the Enfield Solar Greenhouse, so that the community can access, and efficiently use the spaces. The Cole Science Center Bioshelter is a community space for students and faculty to learn about plants and be surrounded by their beauty. This space is often used by students who are pursuing concentrations in sustainable agriculture, and ecology. The Enfield Solar Greenhouse is a student run community space that educates the community through gardening, food, and creative expression. They hold events that educate the campus community on a range of sustainability topics, like how to make healthy meals with local ingredients, and how to grow your own food.

Members of the student group are self-selecting. Some members of the group are usually hired and employed by the Hampshire College Farm.

The Greenhouse Student Group interfaces with the Hampshire College Farm and receives training and mentorship from Nancy Hanson, the CSA Manager. They also work with NS faculty to upkeep the Cole Science Center Bioshelter.

Student Groups are eligible for financial support through Fundcom.
The Greenhouse Student Group also interacts within the larger context of Food Farm and Sustainability initiatives on campus. The group is represented on the Food Farm and Sustainability Advisory Committee.
