Data source(s) and notes about the submission:

Uncertified space: The newly-constructed RW Kern Center (17,000 sf) has achieved net-zero energy in its first year of operation. Although this was during the performance year, the building was not yet certified, and does not meet the criteria.

IAQ management: The RW Kern Center (17,000 sf) was built to Living Building Challenge imperatives, including very stringent testing for particulates and VOCs, as well as CO2, CO, humidity, and temperature. The building was tested pre and post occupancy. However, we do not meet the criteria because there is no official mechanism for occupants to register complaints.

Green cleaning: we do not have a published green cleaning policy, program or contract. But after selecting a vendor for green cleaning products that met ILFI's "Red List" criteria for the Kern Center, Hampshire College elected to use Earth Sense products campus-wide. We do not meet the criteria because it is not a written policy.

Hampshire College worked closely with the Town of Amherst, and sister institutions Amherst College and the University of Massachusetts, to conserve and track water use during an extreme drought period (summer and fall 2017).
