Louis Spanias, the Sustainability Program Manager, presented at the 2017 National Conference for AASHE. At this conference, Louis presented three times. He first served on a panel titled, "Rookies, Newbies, Imposters, & Not-Yet-Experts: Navigating Newness, Isolation, and/or Competence for Sustainability Professionals in Higher Education," and then delivered his own presentation titled, "Developing a Green Office Program at your Institution." He also presented a poster at the conference, titled "The Beginnings of Zero Waste – Approaches and challenges to new waste diversion campaigns and initiatives."

Louis Spanias, the Sustainability Program Manager, currently sits as a member of the Advisory Council for AASHE, and is an active member of the Diversity & Inclusion committee. His appointment began on January 1st, 2018 and will conclude on January 1st, 2020.

Harvey Mudd College is constantly sharing resources and engaged in joint planning efforts with other institutions - primarily the Claremont Colleges. In particular, Harvey Mudd College and Claremont McKenna College have partnered up as co-members of the Energize Colleges program administered by Strategic Energy Innovations and funded by state utility ratepayers. Furthermore, the Hixon Center for Sustainable Environmental Design collaborates with the other Claremont Colleges on a number of initiatives and campaigns, including the 5C PowerDown competition, 5C Earth Week, and other ad hoc events throughout the year. Each of these examples have all continued through the last year and beyond.
