Does the institution have an ongoing program or programs that offer incentives for faculty in multiple disciplines or departments to develop new sustainability courses and/or incorporate sustainability into existing courses?:
Yes

A brief description of the program(s), including positive outcomes during the previous three years (e.g. descriptions of new courses or course content resulting from the program):

Haverford along with consortial partners received a 2015 Luce Initiative on Asian Studies and the Environment (LIASE) implementation grant from the Henry Luce Foundation, and funding was available to Tri-Co faculty members to support the development of courses that will become regular offerings taught by the existing faculty. Faculty had to plan on teaching the new and revised courses at least three times. Courses receiving funding will serve the Environmental Studies and/or Asian Studies/East Asian Languages and Cultures programs within the Tri-Co.

The first new course resulting from the grant will begin in the Fall of 2017: Erin Schoneveld's Art & the Environment in East Asia.

A brief description of the incentives that faculty members who participate in the program(s) receive:

Two faculty development opportunities are available:
1. Course creation grants: summer grants of $4,000 to develop a new course addressing environmental topics in East Asia
2. Course modification grants: summer grants of $2,000 to add East Asia content to an existing ENVS course or environmental content to an existing East Asian course
