Every student at HEC Montréal belongs to a student association, depending on their. Student associations and committees are recognizes by the school, according to the Student Association Recognition Policy. The policy defines the rules student associations, committees or interest groups must oblige too, such as respecting the School code of conduct, being composed only of HEC Montréal’s student and holding annual election of their members. Student association who make a request will be granted an office space with all necessities. Moreover, there is one seat on HEC's director board for a student representative selected by the student associations.

The Association des professeurs de l'École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Montréal (HEC Montréal faculty Association) is recognized by the school as the representative body for faculty and teachers. Its mission is to represent faculty member and defend their interest, their research and their needs. It is also participating to the school governance and orientations.
There is one seat on HEC's board of directors reserved for a teacher selected by the Association des professeurs.

The HEC's board members are representatives of the civil society and private sector. The board president, mme Hélène Desmarais, is a well known figure of the Québec entrepreunership and innovation sector. One of the board member, Guy Breton, is the Univeristy of Montréal rector, strengthening the link and partnership between HEC Montréal and UdeM. One student representative also sit on the board. Other boards member are either HEC administrative staff or well known business manager.
