The Cottage Energy Reduction Competition measured energy useage in 7 cottages between September and November of 2011, and compared that to energy usage of those same cottages during the same time period in 2010. The cottages (on-campus housing units) competed against each other to decrease their 2011 energy usage the most in comparison with that of 2010.

From this competition, six of the seven cottages were able to significantly decrease their kWh usage. The overall winners decreased their energy usage by almost 25 kWh per capita.
