A brief description of the healthcare facility’s sustainability initiatives:

The Humboldt State University Student Health Center committed to the Healthier Hospitals Initiative during the early part of the Spring semester 2017. To start, the Center will focus on the following challenge areas: engaged leadership, less waste, and safer chemicals, and expects to ramp up sustainability planning that incorporates additional changes upon completion of initial goals. Progress will be reported through the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
Goals include:
-Engaged Leadership: support the institutionalization of an organization-wide sustainability policy
Level 1 entails identifying champions, setting goals, and documenting success.
-Less Waste: reduce waste and increase recycling
Level 1 entails a commitment to achieving a 15% recycling rate compared to total waste.
-Safer Chemicals: transition to safer chemicals and products
Level 1 entails creating an inventory of cleaning products and purchasing 90% Green Seal or UL ECOLOGO cleaning products in the following categories: carpet, windows, all purpose, bathroom, and general floor care.

The campus has not yet developed a webpage outlining this commitment and the selected goals but more information about the Student Health Center in general may be found at http://www2.humboldt.edu/health/student-health-center-welcome.
