Humboldt State’s 100% Recycled Paper Policy (http://www2.humboldt.edu/paperpolicy/) requires campus departments to use 100% post-consumer waste, process chlorine free office paper for letter size general use white paper for copiers and printers. As an alternative, departments can purchase a tree-free alternative (e.g. TreeFrog, a bagasse paper). HSU Marketing & Communications does bulk purchasing of 100% recycled paper and bagasse paper for departments. Some departments also purchase paper through Office Max and Staples. HSU participates in the State of California’s State Agency Buy Recycled Campaign (SABRC) and reports to the State on recycled content of paper and other purchases. For this credit, the reporter reviewed Marketing & Communications’ paper order log, Staples’ Customer Report that summarizes environmental attributes of purchases, OfficeMax Recycled Report Account, and purchasing reports from auxiliaries such as HSU Housing and the University Center.
