Reduction of hazardous waste has been accomplished through education of managers at a monthly managers meeting. The green purchasing part of our sustainability plan outlines methods and suggestions to reduce waste.

The college uses reputable companies for disposal who meet or exceed EPA guidelines.

Hazardous chemicals are labeled are stored in a chemical closet. Once the inventory has reached a certain point, custodial is called to remove the items and place in the hazardous waste shed. Interstate Chemical disposes of the waste.

Recycling containers are placed throughout each campus to recycle cell phones and batteries. Employees, students and faculty can use these recycling bins. Advance Technology Recycling, who is R2 certified, then recycles these items. Every year, the college hosts a recycling drive sponsored by the city of Peoria.
