ISU has a very active and engaged President who is leading a group of public university president's to advocate for the continued funding of disadvantaged students through the state's Monetary Award Program.

The University is a strong advocate for policy relief, or accommodation of, the use of drones in research.j Particularly for use in agricultural impact assessments, climate change vulnerabilities, environmental disasters, identifying environmentally vulnerable populations, watershed quality (thru agricultural run-off and non-point pollution).
