A brief description of when and why the water use baseline was adopted:

ISU adopted 2005 as the baseline based on the pilot STARS submittal.

Water recycled/reused on campus, performance year:
---

Recycled/reused water withdrawn from off-campus sources, performance year:
Cubic meters

A brief description of any water recovery and reuse systems employed by the institution:

ISU minimally utilizes water catchment for irrigation purposes. Grey water systems are not formally adopted in the Illinois Plumbing Code.

A brief description of any water metering and management systems employed by the institution:

N/A

A brief description of any building retrofit practices employed by the institution, e.g. to install high efficiency plumbing fixtures and fittings:

ISU regularly employs the installation of aerators in sinks, Water Sense plumbing fixtures, and has completed some retrofits to decrease sediment for the installation of water bottle filling stations.

A brief description of any policies or programs employed by the institution to replace appliances, equipment and systems with water-efficient alternatives:

ISU's Office of Energy Management completed several mechanical upgrades to increase condensate return, reduce leaks in steam pipes, and improve the treatment of the intake water in the systems to prevent degradation of pipes and the need to bring in and treat additional water.
ISU's Plumbing department utilizes low-flow fixtures in buildings that have the infrastructure capacity to accommodate those types of fixtures. In older buildings the ejection rate of the toilets does not allow for complete flushing of the pipes and the standing effluent degrades the systems leaving the building infrastructure susceptible to leaks.

A brief description of any water-efficient landscape design practices employed by the institution (e.g. xeriscaping):

The university has integrated no-mow zones, and integrated natural systems restorations into the landscaping.

A brief description of any weather-informed irrigation technologies employed by the institution:

ISU's grounds utilizes weather-informed irrigation on its athletic fields.

A brief description of other water conservation and efficiency strategies employed by the institution:
---
