ISU is committed to preserving the environment and encouraging sustainability. In order to promote sustainability, all computers purchased by the University must meet the standard below. ISU Purchasing encourages the use of energy efficient “Energy Star” rated electronics.


A brief description of steps the institution has taken to ensure that the purchasing policy, directives, or guidelines are followed:

ISU requires EPEAT Gold standard computer configurations, which users must buy unless they can provide justification for requesting non-standard computer to the Office of Information Technology who then runs the request through a required process. However, even non-standard computers are purchased from Apple, Lenovo, or Dell and all products from suppliers are EPEAT Gold.
