In April 2000, IU was represented by faculty, staff, and students at the inaugural meeting of the Workers Rights Consortium. In May 2000, former University President, Adam Herbert created the Indiana University Anti-Sweatshop Advisory Committee. Former President Herbert had also agreed in principle to the Designated Suppliers Proposal put forward by United Students Against Sweatshops, which is now on hold, due to complications with the Justice Department. IU continues to be a member of the Worker Rights Consortium.
