A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:

The Iowa State University Government of the Student Body (GSB) has established a permanent cabinet position, the Director of Sustainability, who is tasked with managing issues of sustainability and informing GSB of sustainability opportunities. In addition, this position works closely with student organizations, the Iowa State University Director of Sustainability, and university administrators on campus-wide sustainability initiatives and issues. Finally, the Director of Sustainability represents GSB on applicable university sustainability committees.

The Government of the Student Body also has a standing sustainability committee called Students for Sustainability (SFS). Comprised of student senators interested in the topic, the committee meets regularly to discuss sustainability issues. Also, through regular interactions with student and student organization constituents, SFS members are able to gather sustainability-related information and concerns directly from those being represented.
