A brief description of steps the institution has taken to ensure that the purchasing policy, directives, or guidelines are followed :

Over the years the state of Iowa has had various executive orders and state laws that push ISU to use recycled paper. Before ISU had an office supplies contract, the ISU Purchasing Department actively monitored each external order to educate departments and make sure purchases were recycled paper. Since then, ISU Purchasing Department has since entered into an office supplies contract, which is part of CyBuy system and has removed virgin paper from its offerings. The campus is well educated with regard to buying recycled and the pricing through Central Stores is such that very little paper is purchased from other external suppliers.
