A brief summary of papers, guides, presentations, and other resources the institution has developed to share their sustainability experience with other institutions:

Iowa State University publishes an annual Sustainability Progress Report, which is publicly available online (http://www.livegreen.iastate.edu/about/accomplishments/). In addition, Iowa State University participated in a presentation focused on what the university was doing to support sustainability at the Natural Living Expo (http://www.naturallivingexpo.org/features/features-2/). ISU has also participated in a number of company conferences, including panel discussions on institutional approaches to sustainability, allowing the university to share ideas for engaging students between colleges and universities and the business community. In addition, Iowa State University has participated in several conferences, including presenting on recycling at the 2011 AASHE conference. Finally, ISU has publicly shared its successes using Big Belly Solar trash compacters on the company’s website (http://bigbellysolar.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Case-Study-ISU-May2011.pdf) as well as through a glass diversion case study with the National Wildlife Federation

Iowa State University is also part of the Iowa Board of Regents, and participates in Sustainability Director quarterly meetings as well as other collaboration between Regents institutions. Additionally, ISU attends annual Big 12 and Friends meetings as well as Big 10 and Friends meetings, along with Sustainability Directors’ Roundtable Discussions with directors from the entire state. Finally, Iowa State University participates in the Midlands Higher Education Sustainability Forum, which is a quarterly meeting to share and discuss resources, contacts, ideas and experiences, solutions, and challenges.

Iowa State University shares sustainability resources and contacts whenever possible to spread knowledge and successes from on-campus initiatives and to gain from new perspectives.
Furthermore, Iowa State University collaborates with iRENEW, the Iowa Renewable Energy Association, to assist their initiatives through memberships on the advisory board. Each year, a different Iowa Board of Regents institution assists the association in organizing the expo, and the three Regents institutions are able to further collaborate through membership on the iRENEW Board of Directors (http://irenew.org/about/board-of-directors/).
