A brief description of the program(s):
Ithaca College has minigrants available to faculty members who wish to create new sustainability-themed courses or to add sustainability content modules to existing courses. We have also established a sustainability donor fund, which directly supports the Sustainability at Ithaca program and is overseen by the Special Assistant for Campus and Community Sustainability; these funds may be utilized for curriculum support, at the discretion of the Special Assistant.
In addition, the Office of the Provost offers a number of additional funding programs for faculty curriculum development support. (http://www.ithaca.edu/provost/docs/internalgrants/)
A brief description of the incentives that faculty members who participate in the program(s) receive:
Phase I sustainability curriculum development mini-grants offer $1,000 for development of such disciplinary coursework. Phase II minigrants offer $400 rewards to faculty who successfully offer their new course or revised course and who submit their syllabus.
In addition, mini-grant recipients (and those contemplating such curriculum development) are comped to attend and participate in the 2-1/2 day Finger Lakes Project sustainability curriculum development workshop. Past mini-grant recipients are invited to participate and present on their success at Finger Lakes Project workshops, offering them additional presentation citations for their CV.
