A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :

Early in 2013, the Ithaca College Center for Print Production committed to becoming a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified printing operation, making it one of only a few printers in New York State - and the first higher educational printshop operation in the state - to achieve this FSC designation. In August, the printshop operation passed its first Chain-of-Custody audit, verifying that their newly developed procedures are in full compliance with stringent FSC rules and regulations. FSC certification provides a credible link between responsible production of print jobs and consumption of forest products, enabling campus consumers to make printing decisions that also benefit the environment. Achieving FSC certification means that all print jobs produced on FSC-certified papers are eligible to bear the FSC logo, as well as the Rainforest Alliance mark, providing visible demonstration of Ithaca College's commitment to sustainability. The Center for Print Production further communicated to its customers that such FSC-certified print jobs would be produced at no additional charge.
