A brief description of the institution's stormwater management initiatives:
There are vegetative roofs on five different buildings on campus.
Since the College has adopted a minimum LEED Silver or equivalent construction/major renovation policy, all new projects will incorporate stormwater management practices.
For the two newest buildings, the Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise and the Peggy R. Williams Center, both LEED-Platinum certified, there are rainwater catchment and reuse systems in place that actively collect rainwater and store it in underground cisterns for use in non-potable water applications (toilet flushing and landscape irrigation). We also used pervious paving near the Williams Center.

There are five vegetated roofs on campus. The vegetated roof atop the Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise helps control waste water runoff and provides thermal cushioning against temperature fluctuation. There are multiple vegetated roof sections on the Williams Center. There are also much older vegetated roof

Porous paving is used in the small parking areas in front of the LEED Platinum-certified Peggy R. Williams Center. There is also pervious paving underneath the plaza between the Williams Center and the Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise, also LEED Platinum-certified.

There are two retention ponds currently on campus and one more that will be established as the new Athletic and Events Center is completed.

There are two stone swales on campus, one which leads from the recently completed Peggy R. Williams Center to a retention pond, and one that directs water away from the fitness center quad.

Vegetated swales are in use near the fitness center as well as near existing parking areas on campus.

We are using alternative landscaping practices in several areas, with more dense vegetation that minimizes mowing, to assist with prevent erosion and help capture rainwater.
