A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):

NSO is optional at JCCC, but all students are provided the opportunity to participate in either an online or face-to-face orientation and campus tour.

Students who choose to participate in the face-to-face orientation learn about JCCC's commitment to sustainability in three portions of the orientation process: during the presentations from clubs and organizations, staff describe the Student Sustainability Committee; during presentations on available scholarship dollars, our recycling-revenue-to-scholarships model is described; and during the campus tour, peer tour leaders (admissions ambassadors) describe sustainability-related features of campus, including student sculptures from recycled materials and sustainability and the built environment.

Students who choose to participate in the online orientation have the option to view a two minute video produced by the Center for Sustainability.
