Johnson County Community College is a place where freedom of expression and civility are encouraged. The Behavior Intervention Team, consisting of Student Services, Human Resources, Counseling, the campus emergency manager, and the campus police, meet biweekly and as needed advising appropriate interventions to reports of biased behaviors.

Examples of sanctions undertaken in the past three years for employees include: mandatory training, required participation in the employee assistance program. Examples of sanctions undertaken in the past three years for students include: Academic or personal counseling, academic holds, and required participation in the student assistance program.

JCCC provides official support to a number of underrepresented groups on campus in a variety of formats. Some examples include:
Veterans have a separate office that provides peer support and programming
The Sunflower Grant (different than JCCC's sustainability across the curriculum program of the same name) is directly geared to provide resources and support for the Hispanic population
Access Services is designed to support and provide services for students with disabilities
