Sustainability-focused courses concentrate on the concept of sustainability, including its social, economic, and environmental dimensions, or examine an issue or topic using
sustainability as a lens. Sustainability-related courses incorporate sustainability as a distinct course component or module, or concentrate on a single sustainability principle or issue.

A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the inventory:

A sub-committee of the university's Sustainability Coalition adopted the definitions for sustainability-focused courses and sustainability-related courses and evaluated course offerings based upon these definitions.

The committee consisted of Michael Ferber (Director of Environmental Studies and Assistant Professor of
Geography), John Wood (Dean of the Natural Sciences) and Will Van Arragon (Assistant Professor of History). Following the committee's research a list of all sustainability focused and sustainability related courses were distributed to faculty for comment and confirmation.
