Eco House is a themed apartment style student residence house located on the Thunder Bay campus. It is meant for students who are willing to learn about social issues that concern our environment and want to make responsible changes in our society. Eco House is a community dedicated to learning about environmental and social issues, and uses that knowledge to create shifts within individuals, the campus and the community.

Eco House currently uses recyclable material for programming. They currently have plans for future composting, and a partnership with Disposal Authorities to create education programs for students.

Student Educators are hired via the Residence Life recruitment process that takes place in the winter.


A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive (1st program):

Training takes place during the last week of August and the first week of September. Programming expectations and measurable outcomes are discussed and planned for by the residence area coordinators and the residence assistant.


A brief description of the financial or other support the institution provides to the program (1st program):

-The program receives funding from the student activity fee, a component of the Residence Fees. Ecohouse also receives support from the Residence Life Programming Budget.
