Does the institution have programs in place to protect and/or create wildlife habitat on institution-owned land?:
A brief description of the wildlife habitat program, policy, or practice:
Canal and water courses are planted for pollutant filtering effect at several locations on campus. Locations are the Credit Union Canal (LSU has planted iris along ditch banks to help with filtration) and at the Lab School. Other locations will be planted as projects are identified.
Wildlife habitats include these locations: Four LSU Campus Lakes (successive restoration), Bird Refuge, Bird Research Center (Biology and/or Natural Resources), Tony Trail (swamp ecosystem), Cypress Swamp on campus, Hilltop Arboretum, Burden Research Center, crawfish ponds, Enchanted Forest behind the Greek theatre and batture (land between the levee and the river)
