LSU properly handles and disposes of all wastes in accordance with State and Federal laws. All University faculty, staff and students are encouraged to identify opportunities for waste minimization.
A brief description of the electronic waste recycling program for institution-generated materials:
If materials are designated as scrap (not surplus) by the state, then the university can release state property to a local non-profit organization, Capital Area Corporate Recycling Center. The CACRC does have a cooperative agreement with State Property stating that equipment is refurbished and it goes toward programs for low-income families and schools.
LSU has battery collection locations in several areas: 3 academic buildings, two administration buildings and University STores. LSU is working on establishing a recycling station at the Union for Cell phones, batteries, CFL bulbs, and Ink Cartridges.

LSU encourages students to take personal electronic waste to a local area electonics recycling center, Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council. LSU students receive a discount when dropping off material. http://www.cacrc.com/
