Does the institution's physical campus plan include sustainability at a high level?:
Yes

A brief description of how the physical campus plan or amendment includes sustainability:

The LSU 2003 Campus Master Plan is driven by several sustainability related goals:

The Master Plan aggressively works towards moving all commuter parking to the periphery of the campus, and creating “green” pedestrian corridors throughout the campus to enhance the pedestrian experience.

Bike paths and facilities are being designed and constructed in an effort to enhance alternative forms of transportation around the campus. These bicycle facilities are being linked with city wide trails to encourage access to and from the campus via bicycle.

The Master Plan encourages the expansion and protection of the mature tree canopy on campus in an effort to reduce heat island effect and to improve utility efficiency within the existing buildings.

Additionally, the 2003 Campus Master Plan encourages the renovation of existing facilities in lieu of new facilities when possible to preserve and maximize open green spaces and mature trees.

Also, the university will work with the Army Corps of Engineers to develop a restoration plan for the Lakes ecosystem next to campus.

LSU Campus Planning is located in the Planning, Design and Construction unit of Office of Facility Services.
