A brief description of the institution’s program(s) to encourage faculty research in sustainability:

MacEwan University's Research Services encourages faculty to apply to the Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) Fund, which is aimed at supporting the late-stage development and pre-commercial demonstration of clean technology solutions: products and processes that contribute to clean air, clean water and clean land, and that address climate change and improve the productivity and the global competitiveness of Canadian industry.

Additionally, the Special Projects Fund has called only for Sustainability Research proposals this year. These projects will be funded in 2014-15. The fund is approximately $45,000. As all programs support strategic directions of the university, it is expected that continued thematic calls will continue and/or be identified as priority funding in future calls.
