In the spring of 2008, Marquette assembled an eight member task force to help encourage the implementation of more sustainable practices on campus. This group was created to help generate new initiatives and help drive Marquette in a more sustainable direction. The Sustainability Task Force created and oversees four separate working groups: Recycling, Natural Resources and Utilities, New Buildings, and Suppliers.

The Office of Sustainability is housed within the Office of Administration and works with the Sustainability Task Force and its four working groups to help encourage sustainability on campus. The Office of Sustainability also works with students, faculty and staff on finding ways for Marquette to become a more sustainable university.
