The library director has been in conversation for two years with his superiors about the need to consolidate numerous existing scholarly production centers at the college into a comprehensive institutional repository as a first step in promoting open access. The library director arranged for a presentation in November 2016 at the Provost’s Cabinet by the associate dean of a nearby liberal arts college library who is nationally known for shepherding an exemplary IR. Subsequent to that, the VP—Technology included creation of an IR in the recently completed Information Technology Strategic Plan. Further work on the this project is anticipated in the current fiscal year.
