A brief description of the institution’s Low Impact Development (LID) practices:

We currently do not have a policy for LID in all projects, however, we do employ sustainable design guidelines that could be interpreted as LID practices. The guidelines are not currently used for any projects other than new construction.


Has the institution adopted a rainwater/stormwater management policy, plan, or strategies that mitigate the rainwater runoff impacts of ongoing campus operations through the use of green infrastructure? :
Yes

A brief description of the institution’s rainwater/stormwater management policy, plan, and/or strategies for ongoing campus operations:

MCC's current stormwater strategies have been primarily implemented as part of our Horticulture Land Systems Management program. In the future, we hope to expand our stormwater management practices to include more departments from the source.


A brief description of any rainwater harvesting employed by the institution:

There is small area where rainwater is harvested from our bioretention shelter. It is approximately 10' x 10' and we utilize two 100 gallon rain barrels and rain chains.

A brief description of any rainwater filtering systems employed by the institution to treat water prior to release:

In partnership with the City of Omaha's Stormwater Management Plan, MCC installed a teaching and demonstration bioretention garden that cleans and reduces stormwater runoff from an MCC parking lot into Omaha's stormwater system.


A brief description of any living or vegetated roofs on campus:

We have a bioretention shelter, that is approximately 10' x 10' that we use to demonstrate a low maintenance green roof application. this shelter also uses rain chains and rainwater harvesting.


A brief description of any porous (i.e. permeable) paving employed by the institution:

MCC does use pervious pavement when feasible. The areas of pervious pavement include less traveled ancillary roads and parking areas.

None available at this time.


A brief description of any rain gardens on campus:

A portion of the bioretention garden does have a small rain garden with shrubs that is used to showcase rain gardens to students and community members.


A brief description of any stormwater retention and/or detention ponds employed by the institution:
