In addition to MCC's low tuition,we provide students with the option of Grants, Work-Study, Scholarships and Veterans Benefits. Our Foundation provides scholarships based on need and/or merit.

A brief description of any programs to equip the institution’s faculty and staff to better serve students from low-income backgrounds:
The Diversity and Equity Area is currently planning a poverty simulation workshop for faculty and staff to address the growing low income student population in our service area. We have 4 federal programs targeted towards low income participants, therefore we do have current staff equipped to provide services.
A brief description of the institution’s programs to guide and prepare students and families from low-income backgrounds for higher education:
We provide students with the opportunity for an in-depth overview of the Financial Aid process via online Financial Aid Orientation. The Financial Aid Office will also assist any student with questions they may have regarding payment programs.
Federal Trio programs are outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. These programs assist low-income, first generation, and individuals with disabilities. Through this program at MCC we provide personalized academic advising and many other resources.

Student Scholarship Program Act
Authorized by the Nebraska Legislature in 2007, the Access College Early Scholarship Program Act (LB 192) pays tuition and mandatory fees for qualified, low-income high school students to enroll in college courses at Nebraska colleges or universities, either through dual-enrollment or early enrollment agreements.
A brief description of the institution’s targeted outreach to recruit students from low-income backgrounds:
Authorized by the Nebraska Legislature in 2007, the Access College Early (ACE)
Scholarship Program pays tuition and mandatory fees for qualified, low-income high school students to enroll in college courses from Nebraska colleges or universities, either through dual-enrollment or early enrollment agreements with these institutions. High school students may apply for funding under this program by completing the ACE Student Application, which is reviewed by the Coordinating Commission for award consideration.
A brief description of the institution’s other policies or programs to make the institution accessible and affordable to low-income students:
Since 2007, the MCC Foundation has awarded over $2,100,000 to MCCF Scholars.
MCC also has CollegeNOW! In which tuition is half-price for each MCC quarter, through the summer quarter of the year a student graduates. Effective the fall quarter, following high school graduation, tuition is at the resident tuition rate.

The institution offers a wide range of scholarships for students enrolled at least part time.
-The Lucille I. Mix Scholarship was established to assist students enrolling in the Single Parent/TRIO program at Metropolitan Community College.

Positive Opportunities for Parenting Solo: The purpose of POPS is to foster personal and educational growth through mentoring, networking, community service and lifelong relationships.
Agency Referrals: Advisors and counselors in Single Parent Homemaker Services assist students to locate services not available through the program.

Gateway to College is a unique and innovative dual enrollment high school diploma completion program that gives disengaged students or students at risk of dropping out, ages 16-20, an opportunity to re-engage in education. In 2000, Portland Community College created the Gateway to College program to help reconnect high school dropouts with their education. In 2003, Gateway to College captured the attention of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which has funded the replication of Gateway to College across our nation. MCC's Gateway program is the first in Nebraska and the 28th college selected to offer the Gateway program.
