A brief description of the event(s):

There are several sustainable events held throughout the year. Information on events are posted on www.bespartangreen.msu.edu. In addition to these events, several college and departments hold sustainability-related speaker series and forums.

The events sponsored by the Office of Campus Sustainability Include:

The UN Decade of Sustainability Speaker Series - Speakers are invited to talk about innovative ideas in sustainability. Some speakers also visit classrooms in addition to a community-wide forum.
Campus Sustainability Week (October 19 – 23) - MSU celebrates National Campus Sustainability week with a series of events designed to bring awareness and generate dialogue on sustainability issues.
Earth Hour and Dim Down - MSU participates in the international event, Earth Hour on the designated Saturday evening in March. MSU also holds "Dim Downs" during the day so that faculty and staff may participate in a similar event while they are working on campus.
Pack Up Pitch In Help Out Program - This program takes places during student move in and move out to collect items for community organizations and unwanted items for recycling or reuse.
Campus Sustainability Forum - This event is typically held during Campus Sustainability week to have an open community discussion on a pressing issue. The last Campus Sustainability Forum (2010) focused on campus energy use.
