Michigan State University incorporates sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices in all parts of its building operations and maintenance efforts. Energy management or building automation is used in 80 percent of campus spaces to control HVAC run time and assist with classroom space consolidation and utilization efforts. Commissioning occurs during the new construction process, in existing buildings and with newly installed systems to sustain efficiency. Green Cleaning products are used in 80 percent of campus spaces, the only exception are restrooms where products with disinfectants are utilized to eliminate pathogenic microorganisms, such as bacteria. Recycling containers are in place in 100 percent of campus spaces. Please see http://ipf.msu.edu/green/practices/index.html for details.
