A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:

During move-in day MSUM has separate dumpsters for cardboard recycling and offers aluminum water bottles to students. Recycling receptacles are placed at all move-in related events. During orientation, students are encouraged to take the bus and offer tutorials on how to bring their bicycle on the bus and receive a bike certification. MSUM also partners with intramurals to go on a bike tour of the Fargo/Moorhead area to show students what is available to them as far as bike trails go.

Additionally, Student Orientation Counselors are trained to teach new students about being green at MSUM. Topics covered are waste and recycling, reminding our peers about sustainability, saving energy in buildings, alternate modes of transporation, and student engagement in sustainability.
