Has the institution chosen a sustainability-related theme for its themed semester, year, or first-year experience during the past three years?:
Yes

A brief description of the themed semester, year, or first-year experience:

As a Public Affairs university, Missouri State holds a Public Affairs Conference each Spring and Fall. In Spring of 2009, Sustainability was the main topic of the conference. The conference website wrote: "Sustainability is more than a buzzword; it is a concept that defines actions needed for our civilization to survive. Sustainability requires an understanding of the intersection of social Equity, Economic prosperity, and Environmental preservation (the three "E's" of sustainable development). Sustainable development leaves no one person or group behind. Sustainable development is measured by more than goods and wealth. It is also measured by natural capital, ecosystem services, happiness, wellbeing, health and vitality. Education is the catalyst for understanding the intersection of the three E's." The conference is a week long, with guest speakers, plenary topics, and special events, but the theme continues through the entire semester.
