A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with green building design and construction guidelines and policies:

It is required that every contractor must complete the Environmental Management General Awareness Training before performing any work on campus grounds. The overall purpose is to have compliance with Missouri S&T's Sustainability Policy and regulatory requirements. The three main requirements primarily focused on is the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR). Below is an attached link of Missouri S&T's Sustainability Policy.

There are a couple things to make note of. For example, I have zero square footage under the criteria of building space certified under a non-GBC rating system. The square footage evaluated for the last five years have not been specifically rated under the Green Globes NC or Certified Passive House organization. Therefore, they are exempt. In addition, I have not included any of the solar house square footage. As far as I am concerned, the Department of Energy is not using the above classification for competition. Lastly, I have included Hasselmann Alumni House into the total square footage even though they are leased through the University.

Also, for the percentage of certified projects, it did not allow me to edit the percent. However, I took the total square footage of certified projects and divided it by total square footage. I ended with 21.5% of on campus construction to be certified.
