Leadership - Student Council has numerous opportunities for students to gain leadership experience while working in a governing body.
Service - Student Council offers many services to students and organizations, such as promoting events and student activity funding.
Represent - Student Council listens to the opinions and concerns of the student body and acts on behalf of the students on an administrative level.

Yes

Do the institution’s non-supervisory staff members have an elected representative on the institution’s highest governing body?:

The Staff Council was formed to provide communication between Missouri S&T employees
and the administration of Missouri S&T.

Participating in Inter-Campus Staff Council
Working with administration to improve employee benefits
Working with campus committees
Conducting yearly staff surveys and reporting results to the administration
Promoting the recognition of the role of staff at UM
The Chair of the Staff Council attends monthly Luncheon Meeetings and can take this opportunity to address the Chancellor with topics discussed in the Staff Council

A brief description of the bodies and mechanisms through which teaching and research faculty are engaged in governance, including information to support each affirmative response above:

The Faculty Senate is the legislative and policy-making body of the General Faculty. It carries out the functions and responsibilities assigned to it by the General Faculty and shall consider all matters referred to and by the Board of Curators, the President of the University, the Chancellor, and individual faculty members. The Faculty Senate, acting in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Curators and the General Faculty, formulates, recommends and assists in the implementation of policies concerning the educational and research operations of the campus and other matters affecting the welfare of the campus, the faculty and students.

A brief description of the bodies and mechanisms through which external stakeholders are engaged in institutional governance (including information about each stakeholder group selected above):

Local government and education organizations. As a public university the campus is part of a University System owned by State Board of Curators.
Private Sector Organizations: Industry in particular forms participatory governance and advisory councils at many levels in the university as academies and stakeholders.
Civil society: The university operates in participatory arrangements with the local city and county governments, Chambers of Commerce, economic developers and non-profits such as the Meramec Regional Planing Commission and the Sustainable Ozarks Partnership.
