A brief description of how the institution is using the campus as a living laboratory for Air & Climate and the positive outcomes associated with the work:

Both the Environmental Technician Diploma and the Mechanical Engineering Technology Advanced Diploma use the campus as a living laboratory for Air and Climate. Both programs study the fundamentals of audits and conduct an audit on air and energy as part of their respective degrees.

Environmental Technician Diploma
-Gain practical lab experience in the sampling, analysis and treatment of environmental pollutants
- Study the fundamentals of environmental regulations, audits and projects, as well as Occupational Health and Safety

Mechanical Engineering Technology Advanced Diploma
This CTAB nationally accredited program provides a solid background in applications and theory in mechanical engineering, including design, manufacturing, automation and robotics, energy conversion and transmission, and engineering materials.

A brief description of how the institution is using the campus as a living laboratory for Buildings and the positive outcomes associated with the work:

Both the Mechanical Techniques and Pre-Technology Certificate program use the campus as a living laboratory for Buildings. Both programs study building design techniques, using the campus as an example of their studies. Mechanical Techniques conduct a waste audit on the building each year and Pre-Technology uses the building to help facilitates their LEED green Associate Exam.

Mechanical Techniques (Electrical Monitoring & Systems)
Identify pillars of sustainable practice. Provide examples of best practices. Utilize project management skills to develop timelines. Select equipment and processes reflective of sustainable practice. Determine environment impact of a project. Indicate methods of waste reduction. Assess the viability of a project. Justify the use of sustainable productions, processes and methodologies as part of the project design process. Perform peer and self assessments. Present project materials to a jury for evaluation.

The Student led Core Fusion and Wellness Lifestyle Solutions 'Living Lab; helps Train students registered in the Justice and Wellness Studies programs, athletes, varsity teams and the college community.

The Energy Systems Engineering Technology Advanced Diploma conducts annual energy audits on the Fennel Campus. Which includes using Mohawks wind energy turbines as part of their approach to generation, capture and storage.

- Includes clean energy sources including wind, bioenergy, hydropower, solar/photovoltaic, solar thermal, geothermal and hybrid electric technologies. Strategies for conservation and management of clean energy supported by micro grids and distributed energy systems
- Experience a unique new program introducing a multi-disciplinary approach that focuses on the generation, capture, storage, and distribution of energy and their integration

- Students can take advantage of the Cooperative Education option to gain work experience while in school.
