Purified Tannin Treatment of Steam Boiler System

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :

Muhlenberg College is the first college/university in the state to employ GREENTECH Purified Tannin technology for treatment of their steam boiler systems. Muhlenberg College has steam boilers in the Main CUP and the Seegers Student Union that have transitioned to a tannin based treatment program, which has reduced blowdown rates by at least 50%, saving water, fuel and reducing carbon emissions. In addition, ProAsys PT 2700 tannin is certified organic, replacing the traditional chemicals which are being used in 99.99% of boilers nationwide.
