Has the institution chosen a sustainability-related theme for its themed semester, year, or first-year experience during the past three years?:
Yes

A brief description of the themed semester, year, or first-year experience:

2009 was The Year of Sustainability. After we signed the ACUPCC and the governor ruled that state buildings were to be LEED Silver, our interim president declared 2009 as The Year of Sustainability. The students asked the provost to sign the Talloires Declaration, which she did and we then proceeded to meet the ten items on the Declaration. The students organized a World Cafe around sustainability. The university community responded by examining practices, setting goals for sustainability, and organizing events, meetings, and celebrations. Things really changed at NMSU after this year!
