Does the institution have sustainability-themed housing (residential floor or hall, or theme house) where residents learn about sustainability together and to which residents must apply?:
Yes

A brief description of the themed housing:

Institutions across the country are recognizing the importance of creating and maintaining collaborative learning communities that cross traditional campus boundaries between the formal classroom and the residential setting. Research repeatedly supports that the degree to which a student persists and succeeds in a university setting is directly related to the establishment of a community and culture of learning across the campus. NYU students indicate the Explorations program helps them connect with the University and each other quickly and meaningfully.

In addition to a variety of sustainability-themed housing, the Green House at 7th Street is a sustainability-themed dorm. The Green Houseoffers residents a number of great opportunities to get involved in sustainability efforts in the NYU and New York communities. All of our residents are expected to participate by becoming involved in one of our four focuses: Conservation Programming, Communal Dinners, Community Service (through the local community gardens), and Community Development (which focuses on working with ResEd, Housing & Facilities to implement improvements to the building).
