As one of the most dense, urban campuses in the country, embedded in the fabric of New York City, NYU is very well-served by public transit (subway, commuter rail, bus, ferry), and less than 2% of students, faculty and staff commute to campus using a car or taxi.
More than 60% walk or bike to campus from their place of residence daily.
Given the extraordinarily small number of campus community members which own, much less routinely use, a car, a carpool matching program is largely not applicable.
