Does the institution make cultural competence trainings and activities available to all students?:
Yes

A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:

NYU Wagner offers a 2½-day workshop and accompanying 2-credit independent reading on Undoing Racism. The People's Institute for Survival and Beyond, an anti-racist advocacy organization based in New Orleans, developed and facilitates the Undoing Racism workshop, which is designed to identify and examine structural racism, as well as to promote strategies for undoing racism. We at Wagner created a model in which the workshop is the prerequisite for the independent reading. Students may choose to participate in the workshop, and also to obtain credit by engaging fully in the workshop, completing selected readings, and then writing a final paper.

The Intergroup Dialogue Program is a nationally recognized 1-credit course that brings together small groups of students from diverse backgrounds to share their experiences and gain new knowledge related to diversity and social justice. The IGD model is designed to promote positive intergroup relations among students, staff, and faculty and to improve the campus climate at NYU. The model focuses specifically on intergroup dynamics within the context of an institution of higher education while promoting awareness and change in intergroup relations at the individual, cultural, and institutional levels.
