A brief description of the certificate program:

The Sustainable Design, Construction, and Development Certificate Program in NYU’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies Continuing Education Program provides students with expertise in sustainable design and environmental performance in the building industry.

This program of study for owners, property and facility managers, project managers, design professionals, contractors, attorneys, lenders, manufacturers, and others in the building industry covers topics ranging from site planning, design, construction, regulation, standards, legal issues, marketing, and building management to LEED AP exam preparation.

Upon completion of the program, students have attained extensive knowledge of:
-The core concepts of green building principles and strategies.
-High performance buildings.
-Environmentally responsible materials selection and resource conservation.
-Energy-saving operational and maintenance practices.
-Building performance testing, analysis, tracking and commissioning.
-Sustainable development.

There is another Professional Certificate Program, in Sustainability Leadership, at NYU's Polytechnic Institute, but this is not a continuing education or extension department, per se.
