A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate:

Niagara College has implemented many programs to increase the diversion rate. These programs include new waste hauler contracts, an expanded composting program; new waste receptacles that include signs depicting what can and cannot be composted and recycled in the blue bin and grey bin. Sustainability Ambassadors also assist students and employees as to what stream specific waste can be placed as well as general waste information.
