A brief description of the institution’s Low Impact Development (LID) practices:

The landscape strategies at both the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus and the Welland Campus include the management of stormwater through a variety of methods. The Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus has a stormwater retention pond on the west of the property which is used as a natural area to purify and control storm water. It is designed to have water throughout the campus flow through that specific area. The Welland Campus has a wet meadow on the east side of the property that also helps to purify and control waterflow from the non-porous surfaces of the parking lots. The landscape strategies at each campus identify storm water management and these specific areas as an important aspect of grounds and water management. The green roof on the Applied Health Institute also helps to regulate the flow of water.
